Egg Dosa or Mutta Dosa

Breakfast is essential for keeping you fit and fine the whole day long. As it is said, you need to “Eat your Breakfast like a King”. This can actually help you get rid of the dullness that you will be facing during morning hours. But it is a common practice among office-goers and school children to skip their breakfast for they feel they are wasting a precious amount of time while sitting in front of the table in the mornings. Personally I feel this practice is not a good one.

Usually Kerala households prefer to have dosas or idlys for breakfast. They are served with steaming sambar or chutneys. If you love eating eggs for breakfast, and if you find that time does not allow you to sit peacefully and eat both your dosa and the eggs, then you can save your time by eating Egg Dosa or Mutta Dosa.

This is a simple dosa with egg topping and I think you do not need any sambar to accompany this one. But it does taste good with sambar or chutneys. Check out the method of making Mutta dosa, one of the favorite Kerala Style breakfast special right ahead and enjoy your mornings “Like a King/Queen”. ;)

For a Mutta Dosa, You need:

·        Idly/Dosa batter
·        Eggs
·        Salt
·        Ghee

Method

·        Take a non-stick tava, place it on a stove in full flame
·        When the tava is hot enough, you may dab some oil, especially gingelly oil  or sesame oil (a drop or two) and spread it with a thick cloth
·        Now simmer the flame
·        Pour a dessert spoon full of dosa batter and spread it to the size of a large pancake. Make it thinner and larger
·        To make it crisp, you may pour ¼ tsp of ghee to the dosa.
·        In a small bowl, you may break an egg, add a pinch of salt to it and mix/beat it well
·        Now increase the flame of the tava
·        Pour the egg on top of the dosa that is just undergoing the cooking process
·        Simmer the flame
·        With the help of a steel spatula, turn the dosa upside down
·        Continue to simmer the flame and allow it to cook
·        1 min and you get it all done
·        Remove from tava to a plate that you are about to serve
·        Serve hot with chutney or sambar.
·        Enjoy your healthy breakfast
