Squid or Kanava has
lovers all round the world. The specialty of squid is its extremely tasty white
flesh that takes the shape of a cone. Squid is cooked in a variety of methods
in different parts of the world. Usually the hollow body of squid has
encouraged many to stuff yummy fillings inside it to make it tastier. (You can
check for a recipe of mine in this blog named Kanava nirachathu, that is
variety of stuffed squid delicacy)
Squid is also yummy
when it comes to frying it the simple way. Most people try to over fry the
flesh that makes it extremely hard and not so tasty. To avoid this, you need to
fry it till you get a brown shade and not a dark brown shade. Adding flour to
the masala mix can make it crispier, leaving the flesh a bit soft inside. It
all depends upon how you fry it.
While frying, squid flesh
tends to burst. To avoid the oil from falling into your eyes or your body, make
sure that you cover the pan with its lid. While frying squid, I usually prefer
to cover the pan with a transparent lid. (My pan has a fiber lid. It helps me
to have a better view of the items that is being cooked. ;)
Squid fry is a favorite
delight that you cannot simply resist. It is best with rice and can be taken as
a light snack too. But usually, it is served with rice and other curries. This
can be called a specialty of the state of Kerala, and people living here have a
special liking towards sea food, especially squids and prawns. Check the simple
recipe for squid fry from FoodoMania and enjoy your meal with a heavenly touch
that simply makes your mouth water.
