Green Peas Curry



Green Peas curry is a favorite curry often cooked for accompanying Chapathis, Bread or Palappam. It is a very tasty curry that kids love, since less amount of chillies are added to it. It has the goodness of coconut milk and herbs too. So when ever you are trying out something tasty with less amount of spices, then go for this one, it really tastes good.

Ingredients


Green Peas -   2 cups (soaked in water overnight)
Onions       -   2 nos
chilly        - 1 max
Ginger Garlic paste-  1/2 tsp
Tomatoes   - 1 large

Red Chilly powder - 1 1/2 tsp
Corriander powder - 3 tsp
Turmeric powder  - a pinch or two
Garam masala  -  1/4 tsp

Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves   - 10 numbers
Corriander leaves - a small bunch

Salt- Add as required
Oil - 2-3 tbsp
Water - 1 1/2 cups
Coconut milk (thick)- 1 cup

Method


1. Soak Green Peas overnight
2. Before you cook, make sure you wash it well
3. Heat a pan and pour some oil to it
4. Add mustard seeds (optional) and curry leaves
5.Now add diced onions, green chillies and saute well.
6. After the onions have turned golden brown, add ginger garlic paste and saute well
7. Now you may add chilly powder, corriander powder and turmeric powder to it.
8. After 1 minute, you may add the cut tomatoes and saute once more
10 Now let us take the green peas that is washed well and strained off from water
11. Add water and salt and mix well
12. Close the lid of the pan and slow cook for 15 minutes
13. Check occassionally to see whether peas is cooked. Do not over cook or it will not taste good.
14 When the peas has been cooked, add the coconut milk to it.
15. Let it boil for 1 minute. Add coriander leaves for garnishing.
16. Serve hot with Chappathis, Appam or Bread.
